This morning (Saturday) I woke up around 6:30 and couldn't fall back asleep, so I decided to start some of my sewing projects. I figured it would be best to start with the easiest one-Andy's father's day present. Since our baby boy will be born in the middle of football season I thought it was only appropriate that I make Andy a Green Bay Packers receiving blanket. Luckily I was able to find some Packer flannel at an online fabric shop.

The finished product:

As Andy can attest, I am terrible at keeping suprises from him, so he got his Father's day present a week early. He is excited to swaddle his future little Packer fan and watch some games this fall.

We had to make sure this blanket functioned properly-so it was tested out on Rocco.

It seems as though summer is in full swing now. It has been great to be able to relax outside and much to my enjoyment, take a dip in the pool (which is a great way for a pregnant lady to cool off!) For us, the summer season started off busy with my cousin Jess getting married Memorial Day weekend, followed by my sisters high school graduation and open house party just this weekend. It was really fun for us to spend a lot of time with the Zerbe extended family. Andy and I found some time to start some baby registries, which we discovered to be completely exhausting-so many decisions! Life should slow down just a little for us over the next few weeks. Although my time will be occupied by my overly ambitious decision to try and make a baby bedding set. I'm not terribly confident in my sewing and quilting skills but it never hurts to try right? If all goes well with that I'll make sure to post pictures of the finished products.

As for more news from "the bump":

  • we are at week 22 of pregnancy giving us an estimated baby size of 7 inches and 1 pound

  • we have started to feel the baby kicking

  • we have an in-utero name for baby provided by my father : Chonan which is the Japanese moniker for the eldest son in a family

  • we are now accepting all boy name ideas, although it will be hard to compete with my 3 year old nephews suggestion of "purple chicken nugget"

Here are some photos from our recent weeks....

Andy and I at Jess and Tony's wedding

Jess and Tony had the most creative way of displaying of unity. Instead choosing candles or sand mixing they chose a unity volcano...they are true science nerds at heart :)

As Andy and I continue this journey into pregnancy and parenthood, today we found out some big news-that our baby is a boy! I felt a little shocked as I had convinced myself that it was going to be a girl, but we are both excited-Andy especially. The ultrasound went well, baby looks very healthy. The ultrasound tech even mentioned that baby boy has a "beautiful aorta".

I'm in the middle of my 19th week of pregnancy (see photo of "the bump" above). One more week and I've reached the half way mark. It has gone by fast! I've included a few pictures from the ultrasound today.

Here is a profile shot with his hand by his mouth.

Here is a foot...

And we even got a thumbs up....

I guess thats a good sign everything is going well in there!
